Amjad Sabri Lost

Murder Of Another Innocent

                              Amjad Sabri

The murder of Amjad Sabri has taken the print, electronic and social media in Pakistan by shock. As he was a famous Singer and Qawal. Almost everyone in Pakistan, with access to Television, knew him. This could probably be the reason behind the hype that his murder has generated. Had a common man died, very few people would have bothered.
Professor Abid Raza is just one of that common man. Professor Raza as described by his students was a simple man, down to the earth. Every morning, with some papers and books in his hand he would walk his way to his college, until he was shot in broad daylight. His files and papers were scattered in his blood. Ever since then he is a forgotten man.

Professor Abid Raza was gunned down in broad daylight in Hayatabad Peshawar.

Death comes to everyone, blessed is the one who gets killed in the holy month of Ramadan, like Amjad Sabri.
He had a stunning voice that could grasp people of every musical taste. In his last appearance on a private TV channel a “Naat” about grave in his soothing voice broke down the audience and himself in tears.
The P.M was quick to announced a grant of rupees 10 million ( 1 Crore ) for his family.
However, the P.M needs to realize that his habit of silence on everyday murders and waking up when someone famous is killed is what has brought things this far.
His grant to Amjad Sabri's family is stemmed out of point scoring and image building. He wants to tell the nation that he cares. Which is not the case, because if a man can laugh on the death of more than a hundred children, one can never expect him to carry any feelings.

The deaths of tens of thousands of Pakistanis in the past decade may have different reasons but one thing is for sure that successive government's heedless attitude to the killings of common people has brought us to this stage and failed us as a nation.
Although in many cases the security forces ( including the police ) have successfully managed to apprehend high profile terrorists but the never ending dilemma of killing in the name of religion, sect and ethnicity makes one wonder if any progress has ever been made so far.
